Top MLB Plays 4/9 | Snowy Monday π
Tastefully curated M-F by LineStar fantasy experts.
What did you miss while chasing a green sportcoat? Well, it's Shohei Ohtani's world and we're just living in it as he nearly followed HR's in three consecutive days with a perfect game pitching yesterday. The Phillies scored 20 runs on Saturday, but didn't save enough to win Jake Arrieta's debut yesterday. The Pirates and Mets might be legitimate and weather continues to wreak havoc on MLB ballparks. We've got another great week ahead (weather permitting) so let's get after it:
TOP MLB Plays Today 4/9 π
Wrigley Field is covered in snow, causing the Cubs to postpone their season opener. The White Sox are going to try and one-up their crosstown rivals by playing their game (we'll see how that goes). It's still pretty chilly in much of the Midwest and the East Coast which could mean a big pitchers night in those parts of the country. Scherzer, Syndergaard, Verlander, and Kluber all take the hill today as well so there should be some variety from your DFS opponents today.
Power Pitching Targets:
Max Scherzer ($ 12,600 DK, $ 11,100 FD) Some people may be shying away from Scherzer as he makes his second straight start against the Braves. This is because Atlanta ran his pitch count up to 110 and scored 5 runs on April 4th. DFS-wise it still wasn't a a bad game for Scherzer as only 2 of the runs were earned and he still struck out 7 Braves batters. With Washington listed as -250 favorites in tonight's contest, Scherzer should be in line for a nice bounce back game.
Noah Syndergaard ($ 12,300 DK, $ 10,800 FD) Another ace looking for a strong outing after an inconsistent one the last time out is Syndergaard. He averaged 23 pitches an inning in being bounced by Philadelphia after the 4th on April 4th. Syndergaard did strike out 7 and only allowed 2ER but he needs to pitch later in the game vs Miami tonight. He should as almost all the DFS factors are in Thor's favor. The Marlins have a 22.1% K rate vs righties including a .125 isolated power. Syndergaard had a 1.36 ERA in two starts against Miami this year playing at Marlins Park β the #3 pitcher friendly park in baseball.
Value Pitchers:
Garrett Richards ($ 6,700 DK, $ 8,300 FD) Richards is the 11th highest priced pitcher on DraftKings today, incredible value for a guy coming off a 1-hitter in his last outing. Granted that one hit was a 2-run HR, but Richards also K'd 9 Indians batters in that contest. Texas is hitting just .170 against Richards in 87 ABs and the Rangers have a 26% K rate against right handers this season.
Jakob Junis ($ 7,000 DK, $ 8,000 FD) Some would call it a risky play as Junis is up against Seattle, the #2 batting average team in the league. The Kansas City right hander was dominant in his 1st start of the year, giving up just 3 singles over 7.0 IP to Detroit. Seattle had their game against Minnesota postponed yesterday so they may be out of sorts a bit, especially on a cold night in Kansas City (43 degrees at game time). Kaufman Stadium is a top 10 pitcher friendly park as it is and Junis is averaging 21.28 fppg at home.

Stacks on Stacks π₯
Sure there's some quality βtop tierβ pitchers on the bump tonight but there's also a lot of great stacking opportunities. For as good as a few of these pitchers have been β others have been conversely bad. When you add in a game at Coors Field as well as some other weather issues it's a night of stacked stacks.
COL β Blackmon / Arenado / LeMahieu β Over 33 projected total points against San Diego's Clayton Richard.
WSH β Harper / Rendon / Zimmerman β 11 career HR vs. Teheran, scored 5ER in 2.1 IP vs him last outing.
BALβ Machado / Davis / Jones β 2 HR each against Toronto's Happ.
LAAβ Trout / Cozart / Upton β Projected for over 33 points against Texas' Doug Fister, a combined 13-34 (.382) against the Rangers starter.
Stack Alternate?
Kansas City β Merrifield / Gordon / Moustakas β A pitcher friendly night in KC, but this trio is 4-7 against the Mariners' Gonzalez who had this start moved back a day after a postponement in Minnesota.
It's going to be another interesting day/week/month in the MLB. Does Ohtani continue his magic β or even play tonight? Are the Cubs able to get Wrigley shoveled by tomorrow? Will vendors in Kansas City and Cleveland sell more hot chocolate than beers? Will the Rockies score more than 6 runs in three games at Coors Field? Does Verlander dominate the Twins just like he used to with Detroit? We'll answer all those questions and more...in a few hours.
