Top MLB Plays 4/19 | Jameson Time π₯
Tastefully curated M-F by LineStar fantasy experts.
Who can argue with free baseball? It's an often under-explored metric of DFS β pick players who might get 7 or 8 AB's because their games go into extra innings. The White Sox/ A's and the Indians/Twins games combined for 30 total innings last night, free baseball indeed. It was a crazy Wednesday that also saw Yoenis Cespedes, Curtis Granderson, and Rafael Devers all hit grand slams. Plus, the Cubs continue to be at the very least the freshest team in baseball after their third postponement in four games. There are just 5 games on this Thursday main slate, but that doesn't mean we can't squeeze them for all they're worth.
Our top pitching prospect for yesterday was Jose Berrios, who was throwing frisbees against Cleveland to the tune of 7.0 IP of 3 H ball. He was matched by his counterpart across the mound Carlos Carrasco who had the same numbers except with 7 SO's. Hopefully Puerto Rico fans like pitching and extra innings in that game between the Twins and Indians. At the very least we dodged some bullets yesterday as the Mets scored 11, but only 2 on 2 hits against Tanner Roark. The White Sox and A's combined for 23 runs and KC/Toronto 20. There's only 10 pitchers to choose from today, so let's find the top 40% of them:
Power Pitching Targets βΎοΈ
Jameson Taillon ($ 11,100 DK, $ 9,300 FD)With such a small slate, either Taillon, Jake Arrieta, or Zack Greinke are going to get the call for the top pitching target of the night. Taillon has the least downside of the three of them, and he's been remarkable to start the season. Taillon has allowed only 5 total hits over his last two outings (15 IP), both of which were shutouts. Philly hits right-handers well, but Taillon isn't your average right hander.
Chase Anderson ($9,500 DK, $ 7,900 FD)To be honest, the Brewers Anderson may have more value than Arrieta and Greinke (he's priced higher than Arrieta on DK), mostly because he's up against the Marlins at Miller Park. The Brewers are heavy favorites at -200 so Anderson will at least be in line for a win. He's also allowed just 3ER over his last two starts (12.1 IP) and Miami's wOBA is less than .300 against RH this year.
Value Pitchers
Eduardo Rodriguez ($ 7,300 DK, $ 7,100 FD)OK it's not the most favorable play against the Angels #3 scoring offense in the league, especially with the wind blowing out to center field at about 8-10 MPH. That being said this is a Los Angeles team that was shut out by Rick Porcello last night and managed just 6 hits over the entire game. Rodriguez should get some K's in tonight'as game as he has 15 in his last two starts β even more impressive considering that's over just 9.2 IP. That being said the Angels don't strike out much against LH pitching, but are hitting just .180 against Rodriguez in 22 total AB.
Dillon Peters ($ 5,000 DK, $ 5,600 FD)There's 10 pitchers to choose from tonight, you're going to have to take some chances. Peters is up against a Milwaukee offense that is 26th in the majors in runs scored and who have tallied 2 R or less in three of their last four. If you throw out Peters' second start of the year (9ER in 2.2 IP vs PHI) he's been solid with 2ER allowed in 12 IP against Chicago and Pittsburgh. Peters isn't really a strikeout pitcher, but his numbers could be a bit up against a Brewers team that K's 23.2% against LH pitching.

Stacks on Stacks π₯
On paper it's a pitcher's night. That being said it's also getaway day for a lot of teams. Does that necessarily mean offense? Not exactly but it could make the stacks even more important.
ARI β Goldschmidt / Pollock / Peralta β Have a combined .400 average against Blach
NYM β Cabrera / Cespedes / Frazier β Atlanta looking for a spot starter after Anibal Sanchez injured his leg before Wednesday's game.
ATLβ Albies / Swanson / Flaherty β What can we really expect from NYM's Harvey against a top 10 offense in the league?
BOSβ Devers / Martinez / Betts β Red Sox have 19 runs through first 2 games of this series.
The Don't Get Cranky It's Just Zack Greinke Stack?
SF β Panik / Posey / Longoria β Greinke has allowed 9ER in his last 11.1 IP.
It's a small five game market for tonight but that can actually lead to more DFS excitement. You can definitely track your games better with so few of them on. Fire up the MLB package on the TV, tablet, and laptop and you can catch all three early games while transitioning into the two late ones. If you have a spouse, 6 hours of baseball on a weeknight might not be ideal, but you should still be able to manage 5, 5-1/2.
