Top MLB Plays 4/18 | Bounce Back 🤠

Tastefully curated M-F by LineStar fantasy experts.

What did you miss while selling your Shohei Ohtani jerseys on eBay?

Something crazy happened in baseball last night. Yes, Ohtani was rocked a bit by Boston, looking like the “Japanese Mark Prior” in leaving early with a blister injury. More crazy though was the fact that no games were canceled or postponed due to the weather in what seems like the first time of the year. Wednesday MLB slates can be a bit tough with so many early contests, but there's some high quality matchups in the evening games tonight as well.

Programming note: Due to the above news, the Twins/Indians game is questionable. Stay tuned to @LineStarMLB for more news.

Patrick Corbin came through yesterday with a 1-hitter against San Francisco. Alex Wood was also solid with 5.1 IP of 0 ER ball including 7 SO. The pitching reaches were just that yesterday however. Today's pitching lineup is absent of a lot of marquee names, but there are some great plays regardless.

Power Pitching Targets ⚾️

  1. Jose Berrios ($ 11,000 DK, $ 9,800 FD) ***Due to Power-outage in PR, game is questionable ***A surprising costly pick on both sites today but why wouldn't he be considering he's allowed 0ER in two of three starts this season. Berrios is coming off 7.0 IP of 3 hit ball while allowing 0ER and striking out 11. The Indians are hitting just .200 off of the Twins RH in 44 AB. Overall Berrios is dominating while giving up an average exit velocity of 80.4 MPH and a distance of 136.7 feet. Berrios is also pitching about 20 minutes from his Puerto Rico hometown so he should be extra amped up tonight.

  2. Kenta Maeda ($ 9,700 DK, $ 8,800FD)A lot of people won't be touching Maeda with a 10-foot pole tonight. It's understandable considering he threw just 2.2 IP last time out while averaging 24.4 pitches an inning. Maeda made that start under some interesting circumstances though – it was 13 days after his previous outing. The Dodgers right hander did have a 10 SO performance in his first start of the year and tonight goes in Petco which is the #2 pitcher friendly park in baseball. San Diego has a 27.7% K rate against right handers.

Value Pitchers

  1. Tanner Roark ($ 7,300 DK, $ 8,000 FD)Roark has had good success against the Mets in his career, going 7-2 with a 3.13 ERA. He's coming off a 1ER, 3 hit performance against Colorado but was rocked a bit by these same Mets the start before that, allowing 5ER in 5IP but with 9 K's. Overall the Mets have just a .228 average against the Washington right hander and he's actually a better pitcher on the road, averaging 25% more fantasy points.

  2. Brandon McCarthy ($ 6,000 DK, $ 7,400 FD)The veteran has been solid this year with a 2-0 record and a 3.31 ERA. He allowed just 1ER to Washington in his last start (7 days ago) and pitched at Coors Field prior to that surrendering just 3ER. The Phillies do strike out a lot against right handers at 21.9% and the Atlanta hurler has the benefit of a 12 MPH wind blowing in.

Stacks on Stacks 🥞

On paper it's a pitcher's night. That being said it's also getaway day for a lot of teams. Does that necessarily mean offense? Not exactly but it could make the stacks even more important.

  • LAA – Trout / Calhoun / Pujols – Have all went deep in their careers against the sinkerballer Porcello. LAA has a .311 total average against the Boston right hander.

  • ATL – Albies / Freeman / Flaherty – Load up on left handers against Phillies RH Velasquez

  • SD– Galvis / Hosmer / Renfroe – If LAD's Maeda does struggle again, these Padres hitters should reap the benefits. San Diego has a .322 wOBA vs right handers.

  • BOS – Ramirez / Betts / Martinez – Red Sox hitting .400 as a whole against Skaggs and have a .356 wOBA against left handed pitching.
