Top MLB Plays 4/10 | Sale'ing Into Tuesday Like ⛵️
Tastefully curated M-F by LineStar fantasy experts.
There's an interesting night on tap for Tuesday in the MLB. Chris Sale is up against the Yankees, Dallas Keuchel looks to gain some consistency versus the Twins and Felix Hernandez is looking for a bounce back performance when he takes on the Royals. Temperatures are finally starting to look Spring-like and we may be getting the 'Coors Effect' at last after the Rockies and Padres combined for 13 runs last night. There's 12 games on the main slate tonight so let's get after it.
TOP MLB Plays Today 4/10 📈
Last night saw great results from our pitching projections. Both Noah Syndergaard and Max Scherzer picked up wins (not exactly a hot take, sure). Scherzer pitched a 2 hit, 10K complete game while Thor allowed just 1ER. It was the value picks that we were most proud of however. Jakob Junis of Kansas City is getting his box score hung on the fridge after taking a no-hitter into the 7th. Garrett Richards allowed just 1ER and struck out 5, leaving with the lead in the 5th before his bullpen did him dirty. It was a good night, let's see what's in store for Tuesday:
Power Pitching Targets ⚾️
Chris Sale ($ 12,300 DK, $ 11,100 FD)Yeah Sale is just 4-4 in 12 career starts against the Yankees and the New York lineup has the potential to light the lefty up any time he takes the mound. The thing is, they haven't so far though as Sale has posted a 1.81 ERA while holding the NYY lineup to a .193 BA. Sale has 15 K's through 11 IP this season and has only allowed 1 ER (0.82). He's a must play any time out at this point.
Carlos Martinez ($ 10,100 DK, $ 8,700 FD)There's something to love but also something to be weary about with all the pitchers that are priced higher than Martinez today (deGrom, Strasburg, Severino) but the Cardinals pitcher might be the best play. He's up against the Brewers tonight, a Milwaukee team that the right hander held to 4H, 0ER, and 10 K in his last start. Despite notching a 5-4 win over St. Louis last night, the Brewers have been shut out in three of their last six games.
Value Pitchers:
Felix Hernandez ($ 7,900 DK, $ 6,200 FD)There's crazy value in the King today, mostly because he was absolutely rocked in his last outing against San Francisco, allowing 8ER on 6H including 3HR. It's not like Hernandez is ready to be put out to pasture though – he did pitch 5.1 innings of 2 hit ball in the opener against Cleveland. Felix has a favorable matchup against Kansas City tonight as the Royals are the 5th worst scoring and OPS team in the league. Hernandez has held the current KC batters to a .236 career average.
Caleb Smith ($ 5,100 DK, $ 5,700 FD)Oddsmakers are expecting a low scoring game when the Mets and Marlins meet up, setting the O/U at just 7.5. Smith is the second lowest priced pitcher in DraftKings today based mostly on a shaky start last time out and the fact the Mets are a top 10 offense in baseball. Smith threw 25.7 p/ip his last time out against Philadelphia, struggling with control as he walked 6 through 3.0 IP. The good news is that he only allowed 2 hits? There's value in the Marlins hurler today though as he allowed just 1ER while striking out 8 Cubs batters in his first start of the year. The Mets offense has a 24.1% K rate against lefties and Marlins Park is the #3 pitcher-friendly stadium in the league.

Yadier Molina – Got ejected from Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks after 'tussling' with Arizona manager Torey Luvollo. Knowing Molina, he's probably still fuming and has a somewhat surprising 3HR on the year. The catcher has also hit in every game but one this season. That should continue against Milwaukee's Brent Suter who Molina is 4-7 (.571) with 2HR and a 2B against. Let's hope he doesn't get booted.
Stacks on Stacks 🥞
11 of 24 teams in action last night scored 2 runs or less. 5 of 12 games also featured multiple HR's so it looks like stacks need to have precision this time of year. Therefore we'll take our best chances with these teams:
COL – Arenado / Desmond / Iannetta – The Rockies managed just 1 hit against SD starter Lucchesi last outing but 5HR were hit at Coors Field last night.
PHI – Hoskins / Franco / Hernandez – Phillies are big -200 favorites and Bailey allowed 4ER in 4.1 IP his last start.
LAA– Upton / Ohtani / Pujols – If Ohtani is in the lineup, magical things happen. Perez could be vulnerable despite being just +125. as the Angels hit .309 against the lefty.
TEX– Andrus / Choo / Beltre – Team has a .316 batting average against LH Skaggs and oddsmakers are expecting some runs at Arlington with an O/U of 9.5.
Reverse Stack Attack?CIN – Barnhart / Suarez / Duvall – 85% of the bettors are on Philadelphia which could be a trap favoring Cincinnati.
When will the offense come for good? Temperatures are rising in the Midwest and East Coast (which means, like 48 degrees) so it could be today. If not, we'll keep relying on big nights from our pitchers and go from there.
