Top MLB Plays 3/30 | Day 2 🤑

Tastefully curated M-F by LineStar fantasy experts.

Did you survive day one? Hopefully because there's a lot more of this to come. It's going to be an exciting year as evidenced by the very first pitch of the season being hit over the right field bleachers in Marlins Park by the Cubs' Ian Happ. The Yankees might very well hit 300 HR this season, breaking the previous record of 264 and those same Marlins could legitimately go 0-162. Day two is looking to be just as impressive as day one – so let's get to the breakdown:

TOP MLB Plays Today 3/30/18

Are any pitchers safe the way the ball is flying out of the ballpark through the 1st day of real baseball? Maybe we should just take set up men and closers and hope for the best?

Power Pitching Targets:

  1. David Price ($10,100 DK, $8,500 FD)Price is a bit costly on Draftkings but then again, he's playing the Rays. Yes, Tampa Bay upset the Red Sox yesterday but they only had 1 hit against starter Chris Sale. Today TB sees another lefty in David Price and this is a kind of 'get him while you can' play as he started only 11 games a year ago. Ole boy is getting up there in age at 32, but at the very least he should be well rested.

  2. Kyle Hendricks ($9,900 DK, $8,200 FD)This is the guy who probably should have been Chicago's opening day starter. Lester kind of stunk it up against a depleted Marlins lineup yesterday, allowing 3ER and 7H in just 3.1 IP. Chicago's bullpen proved a strength allowing just 1H over the next 5-2/3. Hendricks should be able to dominate enough that we can boldly say there's a legit no-hitter opportunity tonight.

Value Pitchers:

  1. Jhoulys Chacin ($6,600 DK, $6,400 FD)Chacin was actually San Diego's opening day starter a year ago but today he'll be up against his old mates after signing a 2-year deal with the Brew Crew in the offseason. Speaking of beers, it looked like Padres batters had a few before the game yesterday as they managed just one hit off Milwaukee's starter Chase Anderson through 6 innings. Only two San Diego players have seen Chacin more than 6 times so the pitcher definitely has the edge in this one.

  2. Tyler Anderson ($6,300 DK, $6,200 FD)The Diamondbacks ran away with opening day in an 8-2 win over the Rockies. Arizona had six runs through six innings in which every fan gave the proverbial “save some for tomorrow” line. Rarely do teams save some for tomorrow which is why Colorado's Anderson is a very valuable play today. Anderson finished last year strong, going 3-1 with a 1.19 ERA in four September starts.

Stacks on Stacks 🥞

The stacks were pretty solid yesterday as Baltimore, Chicago, and Houston had really good offensive days. The rain disrupted the Pittsburgh/ Detroit game so that was a 'wash.' Today's stacks include:

  • LAA – Trout / Pujols / Maldonado – Two are obvious, the third was 3-5 yesterday and is 2-2 lifetime vs Manaea

  • CHI – Bryant / Russell / Baez – The Marlins bullpen is taxed (as is the Cubs) but expect a big night for the Chicago righties vs a young Caleb Smith making just his 3rd MLB start.

  • HOU – Springer / Altuve / Correa – Another solid night ahead for Houston as Texas' Doug Fister is 1-5 with an 8.73 ERA at Globe Life Park in Arlington – which is also his home ball park.

  • LAD– Seager / Bellinger / Kemp – The Dodgers offense is too talented to be as bad as they were last night. This LA trio has all hit over .320 in their career against Cueto.

The Not-Stanton Play  Nobody could blame you for taking Giancarlo Stanton after his big debut with the Yankees. Then again, we may be looking at 2004 Barry Bonds just two games into the season as teams pitch around the New York slugger. In that case:

  • Gary Sanchez – after pitchers avoid Judge and Stanton, they're going to have to pitch to Sanchez. He's also battling for his namesake up against Toronto's Aaron Sanchez tonight and things are about to get 'dirty.'

The first week (or even two) are a grind in MLB DFS as there isn't a lot of stats and data to go off of. Take this blind leap with us because there's only smoother sailing from here.
