Main Slate Rundown 🏟
It’s a light little Thursday with a four-game main slate on DraftKings and a five-game slate on FanDuel, with the latter including the Phillies/Nationals matchup. Keep in mind that FanDuel gets underway at 6:05 PM ET, while DraftKings begins a little over an hour later at 7:10 PM ET. As far as small slates go, this one looks fairly solid. We’ll have a few weather situations to monitor, but at the moment, no postponements are expected. Let’s knock out a quick little newsletter and see if we can land on the right pieces. Best of luck!
Also, who else is excited for some real-life football action this evening!? Sure, it’s "only" the NFL Hall of Fame Game, but we’ll gladly take football in any form after the long offseason.
Main slate match-ups with implied run totals and moneyline odds:

Reminder: WAS/PHI is only on the FanDuel slate.

💣8/6 Dinger Report💣

Main Slate Weather Outlook 💨🌦️☁️
Check LineStar's MLB Daily Dashboard to see an overview of the most up-to-date game forecasts. Note: I’m not a meteorologist so don’t treat these forecast previews as gospel! It’s always best to run a pre-game weather check for any at-risk games.
Weather Key: 🟡 Chance for delay | 🟠 Elevated delay / PPD risk | 🔴 High PPD risk
🔵 Favorable for pitchers (cold/wind in) | 🟢 Favorable for hitters (warm/wind out)
WAS at PHI (6:05 ET, 9.0 O/U): FD slate only. Most of the more concerning rain looks like it should stay west of the ballpark, but there’s enough activity in the area to warrant keeping an eye out for a possible delay. Temperatures will be in the mid-80s with 5-10 mph winds blowing OUT to center, creating a favorable hitting environment.
CWS at BOS (7:10 ET, 9.0 O/U): A similar forecast to Philadelphia, perhaps with just a bit more risk that a shower or thunderstorm drifts over the ballpark. I'd classify this as a low-to-moderate delay risk. Temperatures will also be in the 80s with light winds blowing OUT to center.
MIA at ATL (7:15 ET, 9.0 O/U): This is probably the game most likely to deal with rain this evening. That said, the forecast is dominated by scattered, pop-up storms, making it difficult to pinpoint exactly where they'll develop. There's still a good chance this game plays all nine innings without issue, but it's worth checking the radar closer to first pitch. The same advice applies to the other two games above as well.
Pitchers to Consider ⚾
Michael Wacha (RHP), KC | DK: $8.5k, FD: $8.8k | vs. MIN
Starting pitching leaves a good bit to be desired today. At least on FanDuel, you have the option of paying up for Cristopher Sanchez ($11,000), but I tend to focus on pitchers and stacks that are shared across both slates, so we'll begin with Michael Wacha. He hasn't been overpowering hitters, but he's been consistently solid over his last seven starts dating back to June 22nd. During that stretch (44.1 IP), he has posted a 3.25 ERA, 4.04 xFIP, 1.13 WHIP, .678 opp OPS, 21.5% kRate, and 5.5% BB%. Nothing eye-popping, but very serviceable numbers across the board.
The matchup also looks favorable. The Twins have been scuffling lately. Last night, they allowed left-hander Noah Cameron to spin eight innings of one-run ball while striking out nine, and they're still without their best hitter in Byron Buxton (10-day IL). More broadly, Minnesota hasn't been doing much against right-handed pitching either. Over the last two weeks (300 PAs), the Twins rank 24th across the board in AVG (.214), OPS (.628), wOBA (.276), and wRC+ (73). They haven't been striking out much, posting just a 19.0% kRate in those splits, but the overall offensive production has been lacking. So, while Wacha may not come with massive strikeout upside, he has a strong chance to continue his recent form and deliver another quality start (6.0+ IP, ≤ 3 ER). Unlike some of the other pitching options on this slate, we also don't have to worry about weather potentially cutting Wacha’s outing short. There may not end up being any weather delays on the slate, but not having to worry about one here is still a nice bonus.

Martin Perez (LHP), ATL | DK: $7.6k, FD: $8k | vs. MIA
Reminder: Monitor the weather here.
Perez certainly isn't a flashy option, but that description applies to most of the pitching pool on this slate, particularly in the lower price range. He's embraced the role of the "wily veteran" this season, consistently giving Atlanta a chance to win while posting a 3.24 ERA across 17 starts. His last outing was arguably his best of the year. After Reynaldo Lopez was scratched shortly before first pitch against the Nationals on Saturday, Perez stepped in on short rest and carried a no-hitter deep into the game before finally surrendering a hit with two outs in the seventh inning. That will be a tough act to follow, but the outlook is favorable once again.
Against left-handed pitching over the last month (261 PAs), the Marlins have struggled, posting a .214 AVG (27th), .628 OPS (26th), .282 wOBA (24th), .122 ISO (24th), and a 74 wRC+ (26th) while carrying a roughly league-average 22.2% kRate. For what it's worth, Perez has also held the current Marlins roster to a .185 AVG with a 30.0% kRate across a small 30-plate appearance sample. Atlanta (-146 ML) enters as a solid favorite, so if Perez can work at least five innings, he has a good chance of picking up the win bonus as well.
Other Pitchers to Consider
Ranger Suarez (LHP), BOS | DK: $8.8k, FD: $9.6k | vs. CWS (Likely still on a workload restriction)
FanDuel Main Slate Only
Cristopher Sanchez (LHP), PHI | $11,000 | vs. WAS
Team Stacks to Target 🎯
Disclaimer: Stacking in MLB DFS is not a requirement but it is a very common strategy used to take down GPPs. This strategy is covered in more detail in the MLB DFS strategy guide linked in the header at the top of this newsletter. Check out the MLB StackFinder on LineStar.
Since this is a smaller slate and I'd like to get this newsletter out in a timely manner, we're rolling with the same streamlined stack format as yesterday. Below you'll find a few of my favorite offenses along with four sample stacks for each generated by LineStar's Stack Builder using different models.
Atlanta Braves vs. Janson Junk (RHP), MIA

Four-man stacks (Max Gap Size: 1) using the consensus projections model.
Boston Red Sox vs. Luis Castillo (RHP), CWS

Four-man stacks (Max Gap Size: 2) using the ceiling model.
Kansas City Royals vs. Bailey Ober (RHP), MIN

Four-man stacks (Max Gap Size: 0) using the LineStar projections model.
Low-Owned Stack That Just Might Work Out 🤔
Chicago White Sox vs. Ranger Suarez (LHP), BOS
Every hitter in the confirmed White Sox lineup checks in at 13% pOwn% or lower, which, by four/five-game slate standards, puts them firmly in the leverage stack conversation.

Four-man stacks (Max Gap Size: 2) using the “Splits FP/PA” sorting model.
