Main Slate Rundown 🏟
Another Wednesday brings us a full day of baseball and, depending on your preferred DFS site, you'll have either an eight-game (DraftKings) or seven-game (FanDuel) main slate ahead, with FanDuel excluding the second game of the Braves/Mets doubleheader. It shapes up as a solid slate overall with a good mix of pitching and stack options, though, as usual, identifying the correct offenses to target will likely be the biggest challenge. Fortunately, no weather issues are expected, so that's one less headache to worry about. Let's get into it. Best of luck!

Main Slate Weather Outlook 💨🌦️☁️
Check LineStar's MLB Daily Dashboard to see an overview of the most up-to-date game forecasts. Note: I’m not a meteorologist so don’t treat these forecast previews as gospel! It’s always best to run a pre-game weather check for any at-risk games.
Weather Key: 🟡 Chance for delay | 🟠 Elevated delay / PPD risk | 🔴 High PPD risk
🔵 Favorable for pitchers (cold/wind in) | 🟢 Favorable for hitters (warm/wind out)
ATL at NYM (7:10 ET, 7.5 O/U): DK slate only. Game 2. A few scattered showers could move through the general area but, outside of some low-end delay risk, there shouldn't be anything too concerning here.
BOS at ATH (9:40 ET, 10.5 O/U): Hot with 10 mph winds OUT to left. Another good hitting environment in Sacramento. Whether the bats take advantage of it remains to be seen.
Pitchers to Consider ⚾
Cam Schlittler (RHP), NYY | DK: $10.8k, FD: $10.9k | at CWS
Schlittler is coming off a brilliant performance against the Phillies (7.1 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 0 BB, 12 K on 99 pitches) and now leads the AL Cy Young race with -135 odds. He's been one of the most consistent aces in baseball this season, with only a couple of rough outings across 22 starts. He ranks in the 90th percentile or better in Pitching Run Value (+22), fastball velocity (97.8 mph), Chase% (35.1%), kRate (30.5%), and BB% (4.9%). The matchup is favorable as well. Against right-handed pitching since the All-Star Break, the White Sox own a below-average .665 OPS and 86 wRC+ to go along with a 23.0% kRate. Schlittler stands out as the clear top pitching option on this slate and is well worth paying up for if you can find some viable value elsewhere.
Joey Cantillo (LHP), CLE | DK: $8k, FD: $8.7k | at CIN
Cantillo has been roughed up a bit in each of his last two starts, but his overall body of work in recent weeks has been very encouraging. Across his last eight starts (42.2 IP), he has posted a 3.16 ERA, 3.12 xFIP, 1.38 WHIP, and an impressive 28.8% kRate. The WHIP is a bit higher than you'd like to see, though that isn't due to any massive walk issues (9.2% BB%). Instead, Cantillo has simply been on the wrong side of a .360 BABIP during that stretch. Even so, he's continued to pair a strong ERA with excellent strikeout upside.
The matchup isn't ideal, but it could certainly be worse. Against left-handed pitching since the beginning of June, the Reds have posted a respectable .778 OPS, .340 wOBA, and 109 wRC+. Their 23.0% kRate during that span is a bit above league average, and there are strikeouts to be found throughout the lineup. Great American Ball Park also adds some risk as one of baseball's better hitting environments. Still, at these mid-range price tags, Cantillo's strikeout upside makes him an appealing option despite the risk factors.
Brady Singer (RHP), CIN | DK: $6k, FD: $8.4k | vs. CLE
FanDuel has bumped Singer's salary a bit, but the $6,000 price tag on DraftKings feels too cheap given how well he's pitched over the last couple of months. Since the beginning of June (9 GS, 52.1 IP), Singer has posted a 2.92 ERA, 3.76 xFIP, 1.09 WHIP, .211 BAA, .617 opp OPS, and a solid 24.1% kRate. While the xFIP sitting nearly a full run above the ERA suggests some regression could be on the horizon, it's still a respectable mark. Great American Ball Park is typically a difficult venue for pitchers, but Singer has thrived there recently, posting a 1.48 ERA across his four home starts during that stretch.
The matchup is favorable as well. Against right-handed pitching since the All-Star Break (357 PAs), the Guardians have posted a .238 AVG, .684 OPS, .301 wOBA, 92 wRC+, and a 22.1% kRate. If Cleveland's recent struggles continue, Singer has an excellent chance to emerge as one of the best pitching values on the slate, particularly on DraftKings where he carries plenty of SP2 appeal.

Other Pitchers to Consider
Joe Ryan (RHP), MIN | DK: $10.3k, FD: $9.4k | vs. KC
Matthew Boyd (LHP), CHC | DK: $7.7k, FD: $9.1k | at STL
Hayden Wesneski (RHP), HOU | DK: $7.2k, FD: $7.3k | at LAA
DraftKings Main Slate Only
Chris Sale (LHP), ATL | $10,500 | at NYM
Team Stacks to Target 🎯
Disclaimer: Stacking in MLB DFS is not a requirement but it is a very common strategy used to take down GPPs. This strategy is covered in more detail in the MLB DFS strategy guide linked in the header at the top of this newsletter. Check out the MLB StackFinder on LineStar.
Houston Astros vs. Grayson Rodriguez (RHP), LAA
The Astros offense hasn't been overwhelming lately, but against right-handed pitching over the last month, they rank 11th or better in OPS (.750), wOBA (.326), ISO (.201), and wRC+ (110). The power has been their biggest strength, as their 17.8% HR/FB rate in those splits ranks second in MLB. That should translate well in this matchup against Rodriguez, who has been getting hit hard in most of his recent starts. Over his last six outings, he has posted a 9.12 ERA, 5.69 xFIP, 1.86 WHIP, .343 BAA, 1.050 opp OPS, .434 opp wOBA, 1.80 HR/9, and just a 13.2% kRate. He's also fallen into the bottom fifth percentile in both average exit velocity (92.8 mph) and average batted-ball distance (235.8 feet) over the last month. The Angels bullpen has been respectable at times recently, but it has also been heavily taxed, combining for 229 pitches over the last three days. That could leave the Angels somewhat limited in its bullpen options once Rodriguez exits the game.
Favorite HOU Bats: Yordan Alvarez, Jeremy Peña, Isaac Paredes
Bargain Bats: Christian Walker, Jose Altuve, Cam Smith

Seattle Mariners vs. Eric Lauer (LHP), LAD
Lauer has managed to string together some serviceable outings, but there are multiple indicators that regression could be on the horizon. While he owns a respectable 3.63 ERA across his last seven starts (39.2 IP), that mark is backed by an ugly 5.46 xFIP, and he's benefited from an unsustainably low .210 BABIP during that stretch. He also hasn't generated many swings and misses, posting just a 13.6% kRate over those seven starts.
The Mariners, meanwhile, have been one of the better offenses in baseball against left-handed pitching over the last month. They rank third in AVG (.293), seventh in OPS (.821) and wOBA (.356), 10th in ISO (.172), and fifth in wRC+ (137). The one concern is their 28.0% kRate, which ranks as the third-highest in those splits. However, that weakness isn't nearly as concerning against a pitcher like Lauer, who lacks the swing-and-miss arsenal to consistently exploit it. If Seattle continues swinging the bats the way it has against lefties, this could be the matchup where Lauer's underlying metrics finally catch up to him.
Favorite SEA Bats: Julio Rodriguez, Dominic Canzone, Randy Arozarena
Bargain Bats: Cal Raleigh, Josh Naylor, Weston Wilson, Rob Refsnyder
Low-Owned Stack That Just Might Work Out 🤔
Chicago Cubs vs. Dustin May (RHP), STL
Every hitter in the projected Cubs lineup checks in at 5% projected ownership or lower. Dustin May is coming off a quality start and has taken no-hit bids deep into multiple games this season, but he has also endured his share of rough outings. Since June 21st (6 GS, 22.1 IP), May has posted a 7.66 ERA, 1.97 WHIP, .333 BAA, .852 opp OPS, and .379 opp wOBA. To his credit, his 4.13 xFIP paints a much more favorable picture, and he's also been on the wrong side of an eye-popping .441 BABIP during that stretch. Behind him sits a Cardinals bullpen that has been fairly average across the board over the last month.
The Cubs' offense has also been rolling. They erupted for 10 runs yesterday and have now scored at least six runs in eight of their last 10 games. Against right-handed pitching during that stretch (351 PAs), they have posted a .294 AVG, .847 OPS, .368 wOBA, .181 ISO, and 135 wRC+. May's underlying numbers suggest he has pitched better than his ERA indicates, but if Chicago's projected ownership remains this low, the Cubs profile as one of the more appealing leverage stacks on the slate.
Favorite CHC Bats: Pete Crow-Armstrong, Seiya Suzuki, Michael Busch, Alex Bregman
Bargain Bats: Pedro Ramirez, Dansby Swanson, Nico Hoerner
