Main Slate Rundown 🏟
With the MLB regular season coming to a close this Sunday, we’re officially in the final full week of baseball. It’s a little bittersweet, but the playoffs should be a blast, and, of course, we’re full speed ahead in the NFL/CFB seasons. New NBA and NHL seasons are right around the corner as well! For our final MLB Monday slate, we’ll have a quiet four-game set which will get underway at 6:40 ET. We’ll keep this newsletter fairly short today before the larger slates come around in the coming days. Best of luck!

🆕💣New “Dinger Report” Feature💣🆕

Premium LineStar subscribers now have access to the new Dinger Report. Here you’ll find all the juicy info needed when home run hunting! This tool will be very useful for both DFS lineup building and when making home run prop bets/parlays!

Main Slate Weather Outlook 💨🌦️☁️
Check LineStar's MLB Daily Dashboard to see an overview of the most up-to-date game forecasts.
CHC @ PHI (6:40 ET, 8.5 O/U): This is the only outdoor game on the slate. A few scattered showers will be in the area so there will be a low-end chance for a delay. A PPD isn’t a significant possibility.
Pitchers to Consider ⚾
Aaron Nola (RHP), PHI | DK: $8.6k, FD: $10.5k | vs. CHC
During this final week of the season, a major focus will be placed on players who are on teams with something left to play for. While the Phillies are a virtual lock to win the NL East, they still have not technically clinched the division yet. They are also nearly neck-and-neck with the Dodgers for the top NL playoff seed, so they should be giving it 100% tonight. That will put us on Aaron Nola today. Nola has not had a stellar season from a statistical standpoint but he remains a quality pitcher and most of his struggles came in the weeks following the All-Star Break. He has rocked a strong 30% kRate over his last five starts and he will be at home today, which is a plus (Nola: +29.4% more FPPG at home).
The Cubbies have been among the best offenses in baseball in recent weeks, and they rank 1st with a 142 wRC+ vs. RHPs L2Weeks. But their postseason hopes are officially dashed so we may either see some watered-down CHC lineups or players just going through the motions over this final week. Still, that’s quite a bit of assuming. So it may not be the best spot, but Nola is firmly in play on this four-gamer.
Eduardo Rodriguez (LHP), ARI | DK: $6.5k, FD: $7.5k | vs. SF
Rodriguez has not been great, or even good, since making his season debut in early August. Across seven starts (40.2 IP), he owns a slate-worst 5.50 ERA, 4.88 xFIP, 1.54 WHIP, and 16.1% kRate. However, perhaps he found something during his previous outing in Coors Field in which he allowed two ER across 6.1 IP while notching an impressive 11 strikeouts. It’s still the Rockies, so we can’t read too much into that one-game sample size, but the D-Backs are fighting for their postseason lives so they’ll need another strong performance out of E-Rod.
The Giants’ offense has bounced between “below average” and “downright awful” in the second half of the season. Right now they’re in that “below average” range, ranking 18th with a 93 wRC+ vs. RHPs L2Weeks. They’ve also been providing opposing righties with plenty of swing-and-miss with a 25.1% kRate during that span. He’s not the safest of investments but if you need a cheap pitcher on this small slate, Rodriguez looks to be the obvious choice.
Other Pitchers to Consider
Hunter Brown (RHP), HOU | DK: $9k, FD: $9.3k | vs. SEA
Chris Bassitt (RHP), TOR | DK: $8k, FD: $9k | vs. BOS
Team Stacks to Target 🎯
Disclaimer: Stacking in MLB DFS is not a requirement but it is a very common strategy used to take down GPPs. This strategy is covered in more detail in the MLB DFS strategy guide linked in the header at the top of this newsletter. Check out the MLB StackFinder on LineStar.
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Hayden Birdsong (RHP), SF
As mentioned, motivation is no question for the D-Backs today and they can inch one step closer to a wild card berth with a win tonight. They’ll draw a plus match-up versus Hayden Birdsong, who has been generally awful on the road this season: 5.55 ERA, 4.58 xFIP, 1.40 WHIP, and 1.51 HR/9 Rate. He does own some quality strikeout stuff (27.2% kRate) but the D-Backs tend to be a difficult offense to strike out. The D-Backs’ offense also heads in ranking 4th or better vs. RHPs L2Weeks in AVG, OPS, wOBA, and wRC+ so the bats have been clicking down the stretch.
Favorite ARI Bats: Eugenio Suarez, Corbin Carroll, Christian Walker
Bargain Bat: Pavin Smith and/or Geraldo Perdomo
Philadelphia Phillies vs. Nate Pearson/Hayden Wesneski (RHPs), CHC
We’ll continue to stick to the theme of “targeting teams with something to play for.” The Cubs will be rolling with an opener + long reliever approach today with RHP Nate Pearson handling the first one or two innings, likely followed by RHP Hayden Wesneski, who was recently activated from the 15-day IL due to a forearm injury. Pearson has been rocked to the tune of a 7.71 ERA and 2.36 WHIP over his last five appearances and Wesneski has looked shakey on the road this season where he owns a 4.84 ERA, .326 opp wOBA, and 1.61 HR/9 Rate. Wesneski also isn’t likely to pitch heavy innings considering he was limited to 2.0 IP on 25 pitches in his first game off the IL two days ago. So, most of the innings will come from within this Cubs bullpen, which has posted the 7th worst ERA (4.85) and 4th worst HR/9 Rate (1.48) over the previous month.
Favorite PHI Bats: Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner
Bargain Bat: Brandon Marsh
Low-Owned Stack That Just Might Work Out 🤔
Chicago Cubs vs. Aaron Nola (RHP), PHI
8-of-9 hitters in the projected Cubs lineup have a < 7% pOwn%. This is simply a small-slate leverage stack against Nola, who could be the highest-owned pitcher on the slate. As noted in Nola’s spotlight above, the Cubs do rank 1st with a 142 wRC+ vs. RHPs L2Weeks and Nola has had only a few strong starts since the All-Star Break. The Cubs will not be in the postseason but they can play the role of spoiler by beating the Phillies tonight and delivering a hit to their chances of earning the top seed in the NL.
Favorite CHC Bats: Seiya Suzuki, Cody Bellinger, Dansby Swanson
Bargain Bat: Michael Busch

No picks from me today but, as usual, Tyler & Shannon have ya covered with some great recommendations in the props video posted at the top of this newsletter!
